Why Prosperity
The Prosperity Games looks to identify those companies that can help drive the local economy by deploying African solutions to global problems. We have applied the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as a lens to identify African companies that will have a meaningful and sustainable impact on the global economy and help to create and permanent ecosystem of entrepreneurship in Africa.
In the face of limited individual prospects in developing countries there is a trend towards entrepreneurial activity that has been bolstered by new technologies, low-cost business models via the internet, and a steady rise in international innovation and entrepreneurship programmes. This trend is especially prominent in development markets where traditional barriers to entry such as cost and education are starting to decline. In these regions, it is clear that early-stage businesses can play a key role in advancing developing economies by bringing a positive impact on employment and access to good jobs; inspiring social change; and driving the development of innovative solutions to local and global problems.
